College of Occupational Therapists Annual Conference & Exhibition 2007

Two practitioners from the Lancashire CMP were lucky enough to be delegates at this years annual Occupational Therapy Conference held on 20th, 21st and 22nd June. The theme of this year’s event was inclusion, and the COT chairman of council Dee Christie opened the event by talking about the importance of greater recognition being given to the relationship between health, work and wellbeing.
Condition management had a key role in this year’s conference with Tracy Webb from South Tyne and Wear sharing her experiences in the opening plenary with a presentation called Condition Management - Who benefits. There was also a workshop session held about being a new CMP practitioner and a stand in the exhibition hall.
During the conference delegates were able to network with colleagues from other areas and share their experiences within Condition Management Programmes.
The conference emphasised the importance for Occupational Therapists in influencing the future. Tina Hurley the COT professional affairs officer stated to do this OT's need to look at new ways of working including; being in the heart of modern health services, delivering services in a timely fashion, working in partnership and introducing new roles.
