What is Working for Health?
Working for Health (W4H) is part of the Condition Management Programme (CMP) and Pathways to Work in East Lancashire and offers training and employment opportunities to individuals who have previously been claiming incapacity benefit (IB) and want to enter employment within the health and social care sector.

For many reasons, individuals on IB (or any benefit) have been a largely ignored pool of labour, but as shown with the W4H programme with the appropriate support and development there is an opportunity to improve their health and well being, and help them gain meaningful employment.

The ethos of the programme is to provide a 6 month paid work experience and the opportunity to gain recognised and accredited training programmes. The programme started as a pilot scheme in 2006 following the successful receipt of funding from the Pathways Lancashire budget.
